What happened to VentureOptic?
VentureOptic as a technology news website closed down on Wednesday 20th November 2013 after the last post was made on Monday 18th February 2013. The new VentureOptic will be known as VentureOptic 2.0, but will retain the name of VentureOptic.
Why did VentureOptic close?
VentureOptic closed down because it was unable to keep up with the competition in its current format. Rivals such as The Verge, TechRadar, Engadget, T3 and others had a team of many whilst VentureOptic had a single writer. Whilst the site gradually gained loyal viewers, it could not compete as it was the way it was run.
Where did all the posts go?
Don't worry, the posts posted under the old VentureOptic are still available to view under a new domain, which will be set as archived - posts will not be updated, no comments can be made and be there for reference only. Images will be removed from articles. The domain of the previous articles will be made when it is ready.
If I sent you an email, will I get a reply?
Please don't be offended if you do not get a reply - email will not be replied to and accounts for now will not be accessed. If you want to reference an article for your work; please use another site: the archived articles will not be ready right now, and images will be removed from all articles.
Is the "new" VentureOptic run by the same people as before?
Yes, it is. Plans for the new VentureOptic will be released in due course and publishing will commence before the year is out. Plans need to me made to ensure that the site will be able to compete with rivals, yet bring you top quality content - please be patient. There will be one writer as before, meaning quality content is guaranteed.
What content will be offered?
This is still private, at the moment. The content origin will be announced when the new plans are unveiled for the site. Thanks for being patient.
When will the "new" VentureOptic be up and running?
As mentioned before, it is hoped that the site will start publishing before 2014. There is a possibility that this date could be brought forward or pushed back.
Will Witherspoon Corporation be the publisher of "new" VentureOptic like the old site?
It will not, no. There will be no more sites with the brand, it has been phased out for a new one - the new brand will be unveiled when the plans for the site will be announced.
Is there anything I can do in the meantime?
There is, yes. Spread the word, subscribe to the free email subscription handled by Google. You can follow the site on Twitter, to get the latest. Thank you for being a loyal reader.
